Rice Creek is located in the north central metropolitan area. It originates from Clear Lake in the city of Forest Lake, right next to the border of Washington and Anoka Counties. Rice Creek flows 28 miles, most of which falls in Anoka County. It travels through the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes as well as parks, urban areas, and many other lakes. Rice Creek drains into the Mississippi River in the Manomin County Park in the city of Fridley.Rice Creek at Fridley, River Mile 1 was briefly part of the Large Rivers Conventional Monitoring Program from 1977 to 1980. Rice Creek downstream of Hwy 65, River Mile 3.7 was monitored by the Metropolitan Council from 1995 to 1999 as part of WOMP (Watershed Outlet Monitoring Program).
